OMG, all these cries for money. Something's up. If people aren't starting to squirm, they must be brain dead. -

JWs have more good points than bad
by lsw1961 in1) many who were on the destructive path have been transformed by their teachings (this includes me who was once vicious, and presumptuous and atheistic).
2) equal monthly pay to all members of the bethel community regardless of whether they are bc members or sweepers.
this is something that still remains as an unattainable dream for the world.

Interesting thread.
Agreed!! With all the nutty/failed prophesies, shunning and isolation. I do agree however that people in the Borg have inherited many, many fine qualities though.
A lot of people in the Borg have many fine attributes, good quality of life, but not all of the people in the Borg. Many cover-ups(like elders instructed to destroy evidence), or (child abuse and cover-ups). The ladder two items the rank and file have no clue about. That is sad though.

I gave the elders some ammo to use
by atacrossroads ini was having dinner at olive garden with my cousin who was disfellowshipped for apostacy.
a holier than thou pioneer couple saw us.
if that was not enough i saw her take a picture of me with my cousin.

Taking pictures of you with your cousin. Creepy.
Paparazzi everywhere. Living life on a knife's edge. A minor infraction like eating with your ''blood relative'' can subject you to possible df'ing and being shunned by lifelong friends and immediate family.

If I win the lottery
by eyeuse2badub ini haven't yet won the state lottery but i purchased a lottery ticket last night.
if i win the lottery, it's $150 million.. if i win, my name is publicly announced and of course my picture gets into the news.
i will probably get df'ed.. however, will the wtbts accept a hefty "donation' from my 'lucky' winnings?

I agree tidal. Anybody who would shun me too, wouldn't get a red cent either. Neither would the Borg. -

The elders are trained now to ''disfellowship quicker and reinstate slower''. So.yes very good chance of getting df'd. Once it's known that you've one, expect a letter in the mail inviting you to a JC. -

Is it true? Heard a rumor WT postphones Disfellowshipping until further notice!!??
by Olivia Wilde ini am not sure if it's true but i heard from a good source that wt has given instructions to elders to postponed disfellowshipping members from wrong doing/gross sin until further instructions given by headquarters.
i heard some jws were just reproved either privately or publically.
has anyone else heard anything like this recently?

I know that elders have all-weekend courses to be trained on how to be good ''sheppards'' per se, so to speak. I've heard accounts that elders are in fact trained to ''disfellowship quicker and reinstate more slowly''. I know that elders are trained to detect ''bull $shit''' faster.
I'm sorry, but I just can't see the elders putting-off disfellowshipping anytime, for anyone.

They took all the circuit's money!
by BackSlider induring the assembly they made an announcement about contributions and as always mentioned how expenses outnumbered the contributions so far and we are at a deficit of $6700 or so.
however, they then said that our money on hand in savings for the circuit was $51,000 and that they voted and will be sending $45,000 of it to the society.
who voted?

Quote from Jurassic Park 3 by Sam Neil;
''This is good, this is really good!!''
What I'm referencing this to is about the money grabbing. So this is what this ''big elder's meetings'' are about at District Conventions and Circuit Assemblies, is about money, hey?
This back door meetings seem so ''privy'' and secretive, yet it's just about more money grabbing!! Truly a disturbing yet annoying discovery. Wow.

Letter to be read at meeting this week about the downsize
by dropoffyourkeylee ina family member who is a bethelite informed me today that there is a letter to be read soon ( this week or next) concerning the downsizing.
so probably someone who has their midweek meeting early in the week will be able to fill in the details.

The Governing Body has directed that a number of branch and Assembly Hall construction projects be delayed, reduced in scope, or in some cases, cancelled.
However, it must be acknowledged that the Kingdom work is expanding at an accelerated pace and the Governing Body can only do so much with the funds at their disposal
Doesn't make sense. It contradicts everything with what they say.

Do You Think 10% Tithing is Coming?
by xjwsrock infirstly, there are cash flow problems in wt town.
i don't think it's necessary to list all the cutbacks and layoffs, but there have been many.. their thirst for money seems higher too in my opinion.
more entitled may be a better way of putting it.

I've posted before, but most JW's have doubts, and keep them to themselves. Just something has to be that igniter and light-off that powder keg of doubts. Brining in tithing could be that ''igniter''.
Many, many, many families in the Borg struggle to make ends meet. Let's say if a family brings home something like $2000.00 a month. Then the Borg implements a 10% tithing requirement each month. That leaves the family with $200.00 less a month. A noticeable impact for groceries, bills, rent and heaven forbid car repairs or other emergencies. Quite a financial burden for young, struggling families.
Should the Borg implement this ''tithing'', I'm sure many families or individuals who are struggling financially may just say @#$&-you!! And leave.
Like I've mentioned earlier, the word ''tithe'' is now in that new bible released a couple years back. I can't recall seeing the word ''tithe'' there before.
